Hestedalen is a distinctive private farm nestled in the rich farmland and woods of West Salem, Wisconsin. The name, Hestedalen, means “horse valley” in Norwegian and reflects the Norwegian roots of its owners, Eva Dahl and Barry Blomquist and some of the ethnic flavor of Western Wisconsin.
The horse facility at Hestedalen has a 60’ X 120’ insulated indoor arena for year round riding enjoyment. There are 16 box stalls (10 heated) and a 100’ X 200” outdoor arena. The horses enjoy being turned out daily into individual paddocks. Hestedalen is also the home of Barry Blomquist’s personal automotive facility, Horsepower. Barry enjoys restoring collectible cars and designing and producing nationally competitive show cars.
Most of the equines at Hestedalen are POAs, Pony of the Americas breed. Eva Dahl and her children have participated in state, regional, and national shows for the past decade. Their program has produced International and International Futurity POA Champions under the direction of multiple nationally recognized trainers and coaches. Both Erik Blomquist and Christina Blomquist have earned year-end POAC National Championships. Hestedalen is also a member club in the Western Wisconsin Horse Show Association.
Hestedalen provides limited exclusive boarding for selected horses and ponies. Our goal is to provide an enjoyable recreational facility, which has comprehensive training and instruction available. Relaxation includes riding the beautiful wooded trail ride on the property.
